A Few Things Friday

What a week! It was one of those where you feel like you accomplished many things and nothing all at the same time.  I thought I would take a few minutes to graze the weekly happenings to kind of sort through the pieces worth hanging on to.  Those are the parts I want to remember.

A good portion of my free-time during Remy’s nap sesh on Tuesday was spent reading the story of The Freckled Fox family.  I was originally drawn to Emily’s  Insta photos because of her beautiful red hair and striking features, and her adorable little ones(!), but was captivated as soon as I began reading about their family story and her husband’s struggle with cancer.  Despite the huge depths of her heartache, I am in utter amazement of the grace Emily has shown in the face of despair.  Sadly, the story of the Meyers family really isn’t so unique, in fact, had things been a little different, my story might have been similar.  If you have a few moments, I highly recommend you read Emily’s story of love and loss, or you can help her family out with a small donation through to help them with Martin’s treatment/memorial bills, or take those few moments today and everyday to hold your loved ones a little longer.  Tell them what they mean to you,  what you would miss if they were gone and how they make your life better.  Tell them how they make YOU better.

Other things worth remembering this week:  We took Remy to see Finding Dory-her first on the big screen! It was pretty sweet, she missed the ending because she fell asleep in my arms. The last time she did that seems like so long ago.  Another reminder to squeeze those chubby little baby cheeks/buns/thighs more and hold them whenever you get the opportunity, this time is fleeting.

My great Auntie Ruthie passed away this week.  My Grandma’s last sibling and dear sister, always so sweet and caring.  Our family definitely feels her loss and her love right now. We are so blessed to have had her in our lives, she will be so greatly missed.

Here’s what we have been listening to this week:

Die A Happy Man by Thomas Rhett, such a sweet song. And Thomas Rhett

Dark Necessities by Red Hot Chili Peppers, best thing the Peppers have put out in a very. long. time

Send My Love To Your New Lover by Adele, I love everything about this video and I especially love the way Remy dances when we listen to this song, so lighthearted and carefree.  Only two years old and she already has her own style and rhythm.

African Mudcloth Pillow

Also, some new pretty things have been listed in the shop!  Pillows and baskets, both beautiful and purposeful.  I have one of these baskets on our coffee table filled with photos but you could also use them as stylish catch-alls for keys, hair clips or jewelry or hang them on the wall as a statement piece.

I hope you have fun plans for the weekend.  We will be barbecuing, swimming and enjoying time with family and friends while we soak up that sun.

Enjoy the holiday and your freedom
